Radio DRS 1 reports at Swisstip, november 18, 14.40pm on Daniel Gendres exhibition „Japan: Berührungspunkt zweier Welten“. In spring 2010 Gendre travelled through Tokyo for five weeks by bike. He photographed people and everyday life. The pictures are non spectacular, but very poetic and the proof for humanness of this gigantic city. The exhibition takes place at the Kulturzentrum of the Japanese embassy in Bern.

UKRAINIAN PAVILION AT THE VENICE BIENNALE. AROUND 2000 VISITORS PER DAY!

Oksana Mas' installation "Post-vs.-Proto-Renaissance" presented at the Biennale di Venezia in the Pavilion of Ukraine is a section of the monumental work (m.92X134), composed by 3.640,000 wooden eggs. The iconographic reference is the work of the Van Eyck brothers, proto-Renaissance artists who painted "The gardens of paradise," which can be seen on an altar in the Flemish city of Ghent. The eggs form a veritable architecture whose structure evokes a mosaic in which the eggs’ iconographic tattoos constitute the single elements. Ancient and modern art merge into an image embracing stories of sins and dreams of redemption, hope in the future and a yearning for purity. Depending on the distance, the work breaks down as if it were a digital file of egg-pixels, each one representing the dramatic destiny of mankind. Contemplating the work of Oksana Mas is a form of initiation into a new life, a full life. Lydia Kavina is a world leading theremin player. The grandniece of Léon Theremin, Kavina was born in Moscow and began studying the instrument under the direction of Theremin when she was nine years old. Five years later, she gave her first theremin concert, which marked the beginning of a musical career that has so far led to more than 1000 theatre, radio, and television performances around the world.

ALCHEMY GIRLS BY RIITTA NELIMARKKA

Our gallery and a famous Finnish artist Riitta Nelimarkka presented her latest oil paintings, textile art and woolen reliefs at a 2-day event at Riitta's showroom in Seefeld, Zurich. Professor Riitta Nelimarkka is a distinctive and versatile artist whose repertoire includes graphic art, animated films, paintings, art and poetry books, textile art, and extensive exhibition entities. She has doctor´s degree in the arts (DA at UIAH, Helsinki) and has studied painting in Paris, photography, film and art education at the Konstfacken, Academy of Art in Stockholm and piano playing at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Her art is characterized by brilliant colors and innovative irony. In recent years, her production has centered on comprehensive collections of drawings, photographs, velvet pictures and woolen reliefs. She has also been commissioned a great number of works, including the large-scale "Con Calore" woolen carpets for the official residence of the President of Finland. Her artworks, illustrations and animated films have been presented at various international festivals and biennals. She has been awarded numerous prizes and honorary mentions for her works.

PERFORMANCE AT THE DEVIL'S BRIDGE

The gallery staged the performance on the Devil's Bridge with the participation of André Reithebuch, Mister Switzerland 2009, and Russian dancer Maria Terpugova. Renown Swiss film director Thomas Gerber is making a film on the basis of the performance, the premier of which will take place at the gallery on September 21st. - the date when the official visit by Russian President Medvedev to Switzerland will begin.

PERFORMANCE BY GROUP "A-A-A?!!" IN CABARET VOLTAIRE, HOUSE DADA, ZüRICH

On May 5, 2009, at 20:00 the legendary Cabaret Voltaire, Zürich, has taken place the performance by Group "A-A-A?!!" aka Valera & Natasha Cherkashin. The artists has try to figure out what we, humans, will look like in, say, 200 years time. Valera and Natasha have wished to dress bullet-proof waistcoats and helmets for a reason unknown to us, the gallerists. They might be anticipating the wrath of the public or maybe just want to pay a tribute to the violent history of Cabaret Voltaire performances that took place in this particular place nearly one hundred years ago.

Radisson Blu is the first business- and lifestyle hotel in Zürich. Its sleek modern architecture and new concept attracted a lot of media attention and it is already considered to be one of the most stylish hotels in town. The hotel commissioned our gallery to decorate its extensive business and conference facilities with the photographs of European cities.

International Art Exhibition opens on 7th. June 2009 and is titled ‘Making Worlds’. Swedish curator Daniel Birnbaum heads the 2009 edition.

We are happy to present to our viewers the American photographer Joel Simpson and the Korean artist Huyn Ji Sim.
